Palermo (Italy), Aug 24 (IANS/AKI) Police in Italy's Sicily on Wednesday said they impounded assets worth over 4,650,000 euros from a local businessman - the value of unpaid back taxes he allegedly owed to Italian authorities.
The impounded property included 45 items of real estate, vehicles, cash, shares and stocks, tax police said.
The assets were seized on the orders of a judge in the province of Enna at the request of local prosecutors.
The assets belong to a petrol products wholesaler who is accused of dodging VAT through carousel fraud, purchasing products VAT-free while charging VAT to customers.
