TCS workers on strike in AIIMS after termination letters

New Delhi, Aug 21 (IANS) Eighty Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) employees associated as patient care coordinators at the AIIMS on Monday went on a strike after being served termination notices.

The TCS handles online appointments and facilitates outstation patients at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

According to the workers on strike, TCS last week began issuing termination notices to the patient care coordinators without assigning any reason.

"Last week they gave termination notice to 20 patient care coordinators. This week they have given similar notice to 20 more, saying more will be removed," said Neeraj Chauhan, one of the patient care coordinators who has got the termination letter.

AIIMS Deputy Director R.K. Sudangshu told IANS that the care coordinators were hired by the TCS and the matter did not concern the hospital.

"This is something between the TCS and its employees. We cannot do anything about it," said Sudangshu.
