Himachal makes registration of real estate promoters compulsory

Shimla, Aug 21 (IANS) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Monday launched an online portal for registration of real estate promoters.

A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of the Council of Ministers on August 5, which approved the Himachal Pradesh Real Estate (Regulation and Development Rules) of 2017.

The portal has been developed for registration of promoters and real estate agents and also has links for making complaints against such developers who fail to work in accordance with the law.

State Urban Development Minister Sudhir Sharma said the Department of Town and Country Planning would ensure that all real estate promoters were registered.

The Director, Department of Town and Country Planning, has been nominated as the designated officer for the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA).

All the promoters are required to register themselves with RERA within 30 days and the general public is advised not to buy any plot or apartment or flat from any developer who is not registered with it.
