HC questions AAI on allowing Amit Shah’s airport meeting

Panaji, Aug 16 (IANS) The Panaji bench of the Bombay High Court on Wednesday questioned the Airports Authority of India over its decision to allow a public meeting of BJP president Amit Shah on the premises of Dabolim International Airport in Goa.

A division bench of Justices G.S. Patel and Nutan Sardessai was hearing a petition filed by city lawyer-activist Aires Rodrigues, who had alleged that laws were violated to allow Shah to hold a public meeting at the Goa airport, during his visit to the state in July.

The court asked AAI if they would allow civilians to conduct meetings on the premises of the airport, which is a sensitive installation, to which the AAI counsel said that the meeting was a spontaneous affair.

The division bench is expected to pronounce its order on the issue on August 21.
