Gurugram, Aug 16 (IANS) Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority, a set up to provide integrated and coordinated planning for infrastructure development, became functional on Wednesday, an official said.
Principal Secretary, Urban Local Bodies, Anand Mohan Sharan has been appointed its Chief Executive Officer in addition to his present duties, said the official.
The senior official said the road from Hero Honda Chowk to NPR on NH-48 here would be made six-lane.
NHAI would construct the portion from Hero Honda Chowk to Shahid Captain Umang Bhardwaj Chowk on Pataudi road and the stretch after this will be constructed by the GMDA and Municipal Corporation Gurugram.
The road will also have the facility of an underpass, two flyovers or one railway overbridge.
To facilitate local citizens, the road junction at HUDA City Centre Metro Station would be modified, the official said.
HUDA and GMDA will jointly construct a foot overbridge and an underpass at this junction to facilitate people.
A scheme based on remote sensing was also being prepared so that drinking water could be supplied to residents of Gurugram city.
He said a memorandum of understanding would soon be signed for city bus service and a fleet of 200 new buses would be added by March.
He said all the street lights of Gurugram would be replaced with LED lights to reduce power consumption. An amount of Rs 33 crore would be incurred on this project and a Central Control Monitor system has been approved for the same.
