3 security personnel injured in Chhattisgarh

Sukma/Jagdalpur, Aug 15 (IANS) Three members of a Special Task Force were injured, one of them seriously, on Tuesday when Maoists triggered a landmine blast in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, official sources said.

The security personnel were returning after a night patrol undertaken by STF and Reserve Police men when Maoists lying in ambush near Paria forest area triggered the blast around 3 p.m., Sukma Superintendent of Police Abhishek Meena said.

Though there was an exchange of gunfire, the Maoists escaped from the spot, he said.

A seriously injured Kattam Rama, as well as Bodi Chinna and Madkam Sanna, were taken to Jagdalpur Medical College for treatment.

Rama's condition is said to be stable but has been referred to a Raipur hospital for better treatment, the officer said.
