New Delhi, Aug 13 (IANS) A young woman thrown down in a semi-nude condition by a male friend from the fourth floor of an under-construction house in west Delhi's Begumpur remains critical while the accused has been arrested, police said on Sunday.
Rohit was arrested from his hideout in Rama Vihar and sent to judicial custody by a local court, police said.
Police said area residents called up the Police Control Room to inform that a partially clothed young woman, whose identity the police did not disclose, was found lying injured on the ground after falling off a building in Rama Vihar.
"The woman, admitted in BSA hospital, is still critical and unfit to make a statement," Deputy Commissioner of Police Rishi Pal said.
"Our probe revealed that Rohit took the woman to the secluded under-construction house on some pretext, while leaving his friend Mohan and her friend Lakshmi waiting for them in an auto-rickshaw in the area," Pal said.
Mohan and Lakshmi later came to know from area people about the crime, the officer added.
Police said investigation was underway and they were waiting to record the woman's statement. "She could have been molested by the accused," the officer added.
