New Delhi, Aug 11 (IANS) Delhi Metro on Friday advised children not to fly kites, particularly those with metallic and Chinese 'manjha', near its tracks with overhead electric lines.
If the kite strings come in contact with the 25,000 volt OverHead Equipment, it may prove fatal besides damaging the Metro system, a statement said.
The Delhi Metro said it had conducted a campaign by reaching out to some 5,000 school students at the newly built Mukundpur depot site to raise awareness at a time when people fly kites to mark India's Independence Day anniversary.
It said the campaign was also extended to thousands of residents of nearby colonies like Mukundpur, Kewal Park, Rameshwar Nagar, Majlis Park, Adarsh Nagar and Jahangirpuri in north Delhi.
