Narada sting probe: ED interrogates Bengal minister

Kolkata, Aug 10 (IANS) West Bengal Minister and Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjee was on Thursday grilled by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for around eight hours in connection with the Narada sting footage probe, an official said.

"He came to our office at 11.53 a.m. and left around 8.30 p.m," an ED official told IANS. He described Chatterjee's attitude as "non-cooperative".

Citing "administrative reasons", the state Fire and Emergency Services, Housing and Environment Minister and Trinamool Congress leader had skipped the ED summons in July and sought more time to appear before the agency.

Chatterjee was among a dozen TMC leaders allegedly caught on video receiving money in exchange for a promise to dole out favours to a fictitious company.

The clipping was uploaded on the Narada news portal in March last year ahead of the state assembly elections.

The investigating agency had on Wednesday interrogated Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim.

Besides Chatterjee and Hakim, Transport Minister Suvendu Adhikari and Panchayat Minister Subrata Mukherjee were also summoned by the investigating agency.

Trinamool MP Sultan Ahmed and Kolkata Deputy Mayor Iqbal Ahmed were also interrogated by the ED.
