New Delhi, Aug 8 (IANS) Varnika Kundu, who was stalked in Chandigarh by a BJP leader's son, slammed the party's Haryana Deputy President Ramveer Bhatti for his sexist remark on why she was out so late on the night the incident took place, saying "it's none of his business."
On Saturday, the 29-year-old daughter of senior Haryana-cadre IAS officer V.S. Kundu, had alleged that Vikas Barala, son of Haryana Bharatiya Janata Party chief Subhash Barala, and his friend Ashish Kumar had chased her when she was driving back home.
BJP's Bhatti had on Monday blamed Kundu in the case for being out "so late at night". "Why did she step out at midnight?" he had questioned.
Replying to this, Kundu told NDTV on Tuesday: "It is none of his business, it is my business and my family's what I do and where I go. If it wasn't for men like these, I wouldn't be unsafe going out whether it was 12 a.m. or 2 a.m. or 4 a.m."
"If it happens at night it's my fault? Can the men not control their urges at night? Why am I being questioned? I am the one who was under attack... but they are not questioned," the 29-year-old said.
She added that the evidence supports her version of the incident, quelling rumours that she met with a car accident.
Kundu said that she didn't stop at the petrol pump, didn't hit anybody's car but rather her car was chased relentlessly. "If there has been a collision, wouldn't there be an evidence?" she questioned.
