"Acting on a tip-off, we have found a factory where fake medicines were manufactured. The unit was apparently a factory manufacturing vermillion and alta (Red liquid dye which women apply on their hands and feet during festivals and weddings)," the police said.
Mostly, over-the-counter medicines which one can buy without a prescription were manufactured at the unit, the official said.
"In apprehension of fake medicines being distributed to neighbouring districts, we have informed the competent authority (State Drug Control Authority) so that they can take the matter forward," the official said.
