New Delhi, Aug 3 (IANS) Leading dance critic and Sangeet Natak Akademi member Shanta Serbjeet Singh was cremated here on Thursday, the family said. She was 81.
Shanta Serbjeet Singh died around 5.30 p.m. on Wednesday at her Gulmohar Park residence here. Family sources said she was earlier hospitalized due to an infection but that had been taken care of.
"For one-and-a-half weeks, she was with us at home and was doing fine," Karamjeet Singh, one of her two sons, told IANS.
Born in Rawalpindi now in Pakistan, Shanta Serbjeet Singh wrote columns for The Economic Times in the 1970s. She was a dance critic for the Hindustan Times for 20 years and was involved in cultural promotions, he said.
She was a former President of the Indian Women's Press Corps.
Her artist husband Serbjeet Singh died in 2009.
