Thiruvananthapuram, July 26 (IANS) A trial court here on Wednesday denied bail to Congress legislator M. Vincent, arrested on charges of sexually harassing and stalking a 51-year-old woman in Kerala.
Vincent was arrested on Saturday and remanded to 14 days judicial custody.
The prosecution feared that if Vincent was given bail, he could harm the victim as he was an influential politician.
His counsel later told the media that they will move a fresh bail application at the District and Sessions Court.
Vincent and the Congress have accused the Communist Party of India-Marxist and its leaders of framing him.
This is the first time a legislator in Kerala has been arrested for sexual harassment.
