New Delhi, July 25 (IANS) The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) has launched a web application for the national capital earlier this month for providing legal assistance to the under-trial prisoners and convicts, the Lok Sabha was told on Tuesday.
Minister of State for Home Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, in a written reply, said: "As per information provided by the Ministry of Law and Justice, Department of Justice, the National Legal Services Authority developed and launched a web application in New Delhi on June 29 this year for providing legal services to under-trial prisoners or convicts," Ahir said.
He said the web application helped know about the unrepresented under-trial prisoners, and the legal services institutions could then provide them free legal aid.
"The under-trial prisoners or their relatives can also send their request to the legal services institutions for getting free legal aid," the Minister added.
