Washington, July 24 (IANS) Nine immigrants were found dead inside a tractor-trailer at a parking lot in the US state of Texas, authorities said.
According to Homeland Security, all the victims so far are adult males, reports Xinhua news agency.
The trailer was found on Sunday at the Walmart parking lot in the city of San Antonio. About 30 more people were found inside the truck and transferred to area hospitals for treatment.
Police did not know the victims' country of origin, destination, or ages of the deceased or injured.
San Antonio is a city close to border area with Mexico.
Acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director Thomas Homan called the situation a "horrific tragedy" which he blamed on people traffickers who, he said, do not care about the lives of those whom they transport, reports Efe news.
