Mercury up on Friday, Saturday expected to be dry

New Delhi, July 21 (IANS) The national capital on Friday experienced only 2.7 mm rainfall and hotter weather as the maximum temperature increased by two degrees.

The maximum was 36 degrees Celsius, whereas the minimum was 28 degrees, both one notch above the season's average.

"It rained in the morning till 8.30 a.m, but the rest of the day was dry. Saturday is expected to see a little rain at some isolated places," said an India Meteorological Department official.

On Thursday, 2.7 mm rainfall was recorded in Delhi after 8.30 a.m compared with 25.8 mm up to 8.30 a.m. Friday remained stifling as the sun shone bright, with humidity oscillating between 67 and 98 per cent.

Thursday's maximum was 34.4 and the minimum was 25.2 degrees Celsius.
