Cunha wins 3rd women’s Open Water 25km title at World Championships

Balatonfured (Hungary), July 21 (IANS) Brazilian swimmer Ana Marcela Cunha clinched the Women's Open Water 25 kilometers at the FINA World Championships here on Friday.

The 2011 and 2015 world champion Cunha recorded 5:21:58, just two seconds ahead of Dutch Sharon Van Rouwendaal, the 2016 Olympic gold medallist in the women's 10 kilometers, reports Efe.

Italian Arianna Bridi completed the podium with 5:22:08, ahead of her compatriot Martina Grimaldi who came in fourth place.

This is the third medal for Cunha at the 2017 FINA World Championships, after her five and 10 kilometers bronze medals.
