Soldier injured in Pakistan shelling on LoC

Srinagar, July 17 (IANS) An Indian soldier was injured on Monday after Pakistan Army targeted Indian army positions with mortars and automatic weapons on the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri sector, a defence official said.

Indian positions have retaliated "strongly and effectively", a defence spokesperson said.

The injured soldier belongs to 21 Sikh Regiment, said sources.

A soldier and a girl were killed in Pakistan shelling in Poonch and Rajouri districts earlier on Monday.
