Vijayawada, July 17 (IANS) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has congratulated Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu on being nominated as NDA candidate for the post of Vice-President of India.
Soon after BJP President Amit Shah announced candidature of Venkaiah Naidu, the national president of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) telephoned the senior BJP leader to congratulate him.
Chandrababu Naidu said Venkaiah Naidu was the most suitable personality for the post.
Several leaders of TDP, a constituent of BJP-led NDA, have hailed Venkaiah's candidature for the key post.
Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Y.S. Chowdary said that Telugu people are proud over the choice of Venkaiah Naidu. The TDP leader was confident that the BJP leader will get support from all parties.
The TDP leaders including MPs and state ministers welcomed Venkaiah Naidu's candidature and recalled his efforts as central minister over last three years to help Andhra Pradesh.
Telangana's ruling party Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has also hailed Venkaiah Naidu as the candidate for the post of vice-president.
"Many Congratulations & warm wishes to Sri @MVenkaiahNaidu Garu on being chosen as the Vice Presidential candidate of NDA," tweeted K. T. Rama Rao, a state cabinet minister and son of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
The TRS, which voted for NDA candidate for the President's post Ram Nath Kovind in the election held on Monday, is also likely to support Venkaiah Naidu, who hails from Andhra Pradesh.
