Mumbai, July 13 (IANS) Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar is more than happy to receive "overwhelming support" for his "Indu Sarkar" directorial and says it gives him courage to make more honest films.
"Humbled to receive overwhelming support for 'Indu Sarkar' against the unfair censor cuts. This gives us the courage to make more honest films," Bhandarkar tweeted on Thursday.
Bhandarkar has received support for the film from several personalities like Paresh Rawal, Ashoke Pandit, Kirti Kulhari and Tota Roy Chaudhary.
The film, set against the backdrop of the 1975-77 Emergency, features Neil Nitin Mukesh, Kirti and Kulhari Tota Roy Chaudhary. The film also stars Supriya Vinod, Anupam Kher and has characters inspired by the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and her son Sanjay Gandhi.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has suggested 12 cuts and two disclaimers in the film.
It is scheduled to release on July 28.
