Kolkata, July 11 (IANS) Blaming the Central government of inciting the fire of unrest across the country including the Darjeeling hills in West Bengal, state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday claimed that her government would not fall prey to its conspiracy.
"The Central government is playing with fire. Kashmir to Kanyakumari is burning in the fire of unrest because of them. They have ignited the unrest in Darjeeling too. We will not let Darjeeling suffer. We will not fall prey to the centre's conspiracy," Banerjee said at a public meeting in West Bengal's coastal town Digha in East Midnapore district.
She said that the state government would do everything possible to restore peace in Darjeeling.
Condemning the terrorist attack on the Amarnath Yatris, the Trinamool Congress supremo accused the Central government of failing to protect the pilgrims and termed them as a "complete failure".
"The pilgrims at Amarnath are being shot dead. The Central government could not do anything to protect them. They can only push people further into trouble and misery. They are complete failure," she said.
Banerjee stressed the importance of peace and communal harmony and urged the people of the state stop the "demons" who are trying to divide Bengal.
"If someone tries to incite violence in Bengal, stop them. Tell them that Bengal is humane, not demonic. Our war would be on against the demons who try to divide Bengal.
"Violence is a pollution and peace is the solution," she said.
