New Delhi, July 10 (IANS) The Supreme Court on Monday imposed a cost of Rs 1 lakh on a lawyer who wanted the repeal of all the colonial laws which he said were at the root of all the problems including corruption.
Describing the PIL as frivolous, the bench of Chief Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar and Justice D.Y.Chandrachud said: "We find nothing in it. We find you are wasting our time. We want to impose cost because you are an advocate of Supreme Court."
Chief Justice Khehar told the petitioner R.B.Sharma who described himself as "Lord Hanuman's Sevak" that he had gone through his 160 page petition twice but could not make any head and tail of it and asked him to explain what exactly he wanted in his petition.
Imposing the cost, the court directed the PIL petitioner to pay the sum in one month's time and directed it would go to Supreme Court Bar Association for their library's use.
The court directed the listing of matter, in the event of failure to deposit the cost.
