Ram Nath Kovind to campaign in Hyderabad on Tuesday

Hyderabad, July 3 (IANS) NDA presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind will be visiting Hyderabad on Tuesday as part of his election campaign.

A day after opposition parties' nominee Meira Kumar visited Hyderabad, Kovind will be in the city to bolster his support.

The BJP's Telangana unit has planned a grand reception to the former Bihar Governor, who is expected to reach Begumpet airport in the morning. He will then drive to a city hotel to meet the BJP's members of Parliament and state legislators.

Central Ministers M. Venkaiah Naidu and Bandaru Dattatreya will be present during the meeting, said state BJP chief K. Laxman.

Telangana's ruling party Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), which has already announced its support to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) nominee, has decided to accord a warm welcome to Kovind.

Deputy Chief Ministers Kadiam Srihari and Mohammed Mahmood Ali besides several Ministers and TRS leaders will receive Kovind at the airport.

The TRS has erected huge hoardings at busy intersections to welcome him. The hoardings carry pictures of Kovind and TRS President and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

Kovind will also address the TRS's members of Parliament and legislators as part of his campaign in the city.

Meira Kumar, who met the Congress MPs and MLAs here on Monday, said she had written a letter to Chandrasekhar Rao, seeking his party's support.

The Congress has been urging the TRS to reconsider its decision and vote for Meira Kumar given the role she played as then Speaker of the Lok Sabha in formation of a separate Telangana state.
