Two killed, six hurt in Lebanon refugee camp fire

Beirut, July 3 (IANS) Two children were killed and six other people injured when a fire broke out on Sunday in al-Raed Syrian refugee camp in a Lebanon town.

A security source told Xinhua that the civil defence and Lebanese Red Cross have sent the victims to nearby hospitals.

He said the fire broke out due to gas leak at the camp in the Bekaa town of Qob Elias and the fire was boosted because of many motorcycles filled with gasoline parked near the tents.

The source added that the camp consists of 150 tents with nearly 1,000 refugees living in it.

According to the Lebanese Civil Aviation Meteorology Department, Lebanon is currently exposed to hot air masses stationed above the Arabian Gulf.

The department warned of the risk of fires and exposure to direct sunlight, especially during the afternoon.
