London, Jun 23 (PTI) Actress Lily Collins said she did not want to discuss she was suffering from an eating disorder while doing the film "To The Bone" as she believed it would take away a lot from her performance.
But, the 28-year-old actress admitted she felt it was time to relieve herself from the burden, both as an artiste and an individual, reported Femalefirst.
"I did consider that talking about my struggles with an eating disorder would overshadow my accomplishments as an actor, but I also knew this was something I needed to do to move forward as a human and an actress. I needed to let go.
I've always strived to start conversations about taboo subjects with young women," Collins told Shape magazine.
The "Mirror Mirror" star also said she never had any qualms accepting she had a health issue.
"Having suffered from an eating disorder doesn't define me; I'm not ashamed of my past," she said.
