Stranded tourists rescued from Himachal’s Saach Pass

Stranded tourists rescued from Himachal's Saach PassShimla, June 22 (IANS) Nearly two dozen tourists stranded in high-altitude areas of Chamba district in Himachal Pradesh were rescued on Thursday, an official said.

As many as 25 tourists, including a Chief Judicial Magistrate posted in Punjab's Pathankot town, were rescued from Saach Pass.

They were stuck there after road links to the area snapped due to inclement weather on Wednesday.

Deputy Commissioner Sudesh Mokhta said two medical teams provided first aid to the rescued tourists.

Saach Pass, the gateway to the picturesque Pangi Valley at an altitude of 14,500 feet, was reopened to motorists last week after remaining closed for seven months due to snow.

Saach Pass is the shortest road link between Chamba town, some 450 km from the state capital, and the Pangi Valley.
