Himachal may get heavy rains

Shimla, June 19 (IANS) The hills of Himachal Pradesh may experience heavy rainfall in the next two days, a weather official said on Monday.

"There are chances of heavy rainfall at some places in the state till Wednesday," Manmohan Singh, meteorological office director here, told IANS.

Most of the prominent tourist towns like Shimla, Narkanda, Kufri, Kalpa, Kasauli, Chamba, Dharamsala, Palampur and Manali saw good spells of rain in the past 24 hours.

Mashobra near Shimla saw the highest rainfall of 93 mm while Dharamsala experienced 63 mm.

Shimla saw a decline in day temperature. It recorded a high of 22.6 degrees Celsius.

Dharamsala -- the seat of the Tibetan government-in-exile -- saw a high of 27.4 degrees, while it was 25.2 degrees in Manali, 21 degrees in Kalpa and 34.2 degrees in Una town.
