New Delhi, June 19 (IANS) The Delhi High Court on Monday asked civic bodies, the city government and Delhi Jal Board to inform it the steps taken to de-silt the drains to ensure to ensure free flow of water and sewage during the monsoon.
A division bench of Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva and Justice A.K. Chawla issued notice to Delhi government, the three civic bodies, DJB and the Irrigation and Flood Control Department and asked them to file their response on the issue by June 28.
The bench also asked authorities to file photographs of the current status of the drains as they heard a PIL, initiated by its own after taking into note a media report that several sewage and storm-water drains in Delhi have not been de-silted.
Where de-silting has taken place, the waste or the rubble from the drains have been left on the spot and not taken away to a landfill site, said the news report.
