Report on BCCI’s meeting with PCB to be discussed in SGM

Kolkata, June 12 (IANS) Besides discussing the Justice R.M. Lodha Committee reforms and how much of them have been implemented by the state associations, the BCCI Special General Meeting (SGM) on June 26 will also focus on the report on the May 29 meeting with the Pakistan Cricket Board in Dubai.

In a letter sent to all state associations, a copy of which is with IANS, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) acting President C.K. Khanna said the meeting which will take place in Mumbai will have in its seven-point agenda the outcome of the meeting with PCB scheduled to resolve the issues between the two boards.

BCCI acting Secretary Amitabh Choudhary had met PCB Chairman Shaharyar Khan and legal representatives last month.

According to the ICC Future Tours Programme, the Indian cricket team is slated to play arch-rivals Pakistan, whom they recently beat in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy, in a bilateral series later this year.

But hostilities from across the border led to Union Sports Minister Vijay Goel ruling out a bilateral series between the two nations on the same day when the two boards were to meet for parleys in Dubai.

There was a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed earlier between BCCI and PCB to engage in six bilateral series between 2015 and 2023.

Last month, the PCB had sent a notice of dispute to the BCCI, claiming losses for the BCCI's refusal to tour in 2015.

The last bilateral series between India and Pakistan was played in 2012-13.

Among other issues listed in the SGM invitation letter are a report on the ICC meetings, recording decisions taken by the Committee of Administrators (CoA) since January 30, bilateral tours (home and away) for this season and planning cricket activities in Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association and Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA).

The request from Assam Cricket Association (ACA) for financial assistance to complete work of their new stadium will also be discussed.
