Ghaziabad police arrest schizophrenic who killed his father

Ghaziabad, June 10 (IANS) Ghaziabad police has arrested a 29-year-old schizophrenia patient, who under the influence of some occult practitioners and a friend, killed his father last month, police said on Saturday.

At a press conference, SP (City) Akash Tomar told media persons that Anuj Tyagi alias Dabboo, shot dead his father on May 11 on the advise of occult practitioners who told him it would help get rid of the sin of "falsely worshiping Lord Shiva".

Anuj was fourth among his siblings and was suffering from schizophrenia.

The eldest brother Praveen Tyagi, an IITian, runs a prestigious coaching centre PACE, the second brother looks after the coaching centre, while the third one is an IPS officer posted as SP in Auriyya, Uttar Pradesh. Dabboo, the fourth son, is only a matriculate, while the fifth brother is also an IITian and a civil services aspirant.

Besides schizophrenia, Daboo also suffered from severe inferiority complex.

During investigation, he confessed to his crime and said that some occult practitioners told him that if he kills his father in "Brahm Muhurt" (wee hours), his miseries would end, the SP (City) said.

On the advice of his friend Rajat Chaudhary alias Johny, Daboo bought a .30 calibre pistol and at 4.30 a.m on May 11 killed his father.

After killing his father, Dabboo fled and travelled to various cities of India and Nepal. After the Rs 11,000, which he had with him while leaving home, got exhausted, he did manual labour in factories to survive.

After the crime, Daboo had thrown his pistol in a steel unit compound here, which police recovered on Saturday, Tomar said.

The family members told police that Daboo was suffering from schizophrenia, and was admitted to VIMHANS and AIIMS for treatment. But when he did not get relief there, he was made to perform some religious rituals, including worship of Lord Shiva.

But his friend Johny convinced him that he had committed a sin by worshiping Lord Shiva. He decided to eliminate his father.

Dabboo paid Rs 3.5 lakh to Johny to arrange a pistol to kill his father. During the screening of Johny's bank details, remittance of Rs 8.5 lakh was found from Dabboo's account.

Police have said both Dabboo and Johny have been found involved in the crime. While Dabboo has been arrested, Johny is absconding. Another person Rahul's name has cropped up, and his role is being probed, the police said.
