Mumbai, June 10 (IANS) Popular Punjabi singer Jasbir Jassi, whose song "Dil le gayee kudi" has been recreated with a new video on the digital platform, says these are promising times for independent artistes courtesy the visibility and reach that the medium allows.
"With the reach provided by the digital medium and the demographics of younger crowds accessing the medium, it does help to promote indie/Punjabi music and artistes," Jasbir told IANS here.
The new take on "Dil le gayee kudi" has exclusively released on the digital platform Dekkho, before going live on YouTube and other digital platforms on Saturday.
According to Jasbir, choosing such platforms always helps indie artists to reach the right audience.
Asked about what made him recreate the song, Jasbir said: "The team at Times Music (which had released the album in 1998) had seen a fair share of success with it over the years. We mutually agreed to redo the track, keeping the essence alive with the new-age sound.
"The original track is kept intact. We have just added a modern-era electronic sound to make it sound upbeat with a modern twist."
Having started his career with Punjabi films and songs, Jasbir has some popular indie-pop music albums like "Dil Le Gayee" (1998), "Kudi Kudi" (1999), "Nishani Pyar Di" (2001), "Just Jassi" (2002), "Mukhda Chann Varga"(2004) and "Akh Mastani"(2007).
