Patna, June 8 (IANS) Nine Maoists, including two allegedly involved in the deadly Sukma attack in which 25 CRPF troopers died, were arrested in Bihar's Jamui district in two operations last week, an official said on Thursday.
A joint team of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Bihar Police conducted the operations on June 2 and June 3 at separate locations in Jamui and arrested the Maoists.
"The Maoists were nabbed during operation launched in two phases. In the first phase, the raid and search was conducted in the forest area of Lakhai Nanipathal, Bhelpatto and Mariyamphari in Jamui in which eight Maoists were held.
"In the second phase, operations were conducted in the forest area of Dhamokora and one Maoist was arrested," the SSB official said.
Preliminary interrogation revealed that two of the arrested Maoists were involved in the April 24 Sukma incident in which 25 troopers were killed when over 300 armed Maoists attacked a 99-member CRPF unit providing security cover to workers at a road construction site, he said.
The official said the other Maoists were involved in murder cases.
