New Delhi, June 8 (IANS) Aiming to boost its flagship Sagarmala project, the Shipping Ministry is organising a workshop titled "Accelerating Sagarmala Implementation - Engaging with States" on Friday.
The first of a series of workshops to be held over the next six to eight months, it aims to create awareness about the Sagarmala programme among the stakeholders - including other ministries and various maritime states -- and to engage with them.
"The flagship programme has moved from the conceptualisation and planning to the implementation stage.
"As a part of the programme, more than 400 projects have been identified across the areas of port modernisation and new port development, connectivity enhancement, port-linked industrialisation and coastal community development," the Shipping Ministry said in a statement.
The workshop on Friday would be attended by Shipping Secretary Rajive Kumar and NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant.
"The workshop also aims to familiarise the key stakeholders with the provisions of the Sagarmala programme, its objectives and avenues available for them to implement these projects," the Ministry said.
