New Delhi, June 5 (IANS) Vowing to green Delhi, the BJP said on World Environment Day on Monday that the three Municipal Corporations of Delhi (MCDs), where it is in power, will start planting saplings from July 1 onwards.
The plantation drive shall continue till September 30 under the 'Harit Delhi Abhiyan'.
"We fully supports the programme of environment protection by Prime Minister Narender Modi. We shall fully cooperate for its successful completion," Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Delhi unit President Manoj Tiwari said after planting a sapling at the party office here.
He said the plantation drive was kept limited in view of the scorching summer.
"After the start of the rainy season, all the three MCDs will start planting saplings in the capital," Tiwari said.
"We shall also concentrate on protecting the existing flora here," he added.
