Ethanol, CNG-based public transport in Goa soon

Panaji, June 5 (IANS) Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said on Monday that the coastal state will soon get ethanol and CNG-based public transport.

Several activities have been planned by the state government to reduce the carbon footprint, Parrikar said.

"Initiatives include ethanol and CNG-based bus service. So that you save in carbon print. Better garbage management and a lot of activities have been thought of," the Chief Minister told reporters on the sidelines of a tree-plantation drive in the state capital.

In the budget presented in the assembly two months ago, Parrikar promised to set up an integrated public transport in the state, which has been facing a crisis as far as public transport is concerned, due to increasing population and more than four million tourists who visit the state every year.
