Berdych fires coach after poor performance at French Open

Paris, June 5 (IANS) Czech tennis player Tomas Berdych announced that he will not continue with coach Goran Ivanisevic following his early elimination in the second round of the French Open here on Monday.

Berdych, who was seeded 13, was eliminated in the round of 64 by Russian Karen Khachanov, world No.53, reports Efe.

"Goran and I will not be working together anymore," the 31-year-old said in a statement posted on Twitter, after just under a year of collaboration with Croatian Ivanisevic.

"I enjoyed the ride and we will remain great friends. Wish him all the best in the future and I am committed to go after my goals with current team," the world No.14 continued in the statement.

Berdych started working with Ivanisevic, winner of Wimbledon in 2010, last August, and since then he has only won a title at Shenzhen 2016.
