Abyan, June 2 (IANS/WAM) The UAE's humanitarian agency Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has launched the first phase of a new food aid campaign to help Yemenis on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.
As part of the campaign, the ERC's team distributed food packages to underprivileged people in the towns of Zinjibar and Khanfar in Abyan governorate, south-western Yemen, said a report on Thursday.
"The aid is timely and helps the people who are the most disadvantaged in these areas, said Ahmed Nasser Awadh, the coordinator of the campaign.
The beneficiaries thanked the leadership, government and people of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for supporting Yemen. They also thanked the ERC for making huge efforts to help the Yemeni people.
