Ghaziabad, May 30 (IANS) The Ghaziabad Police on Tuesday appealed to the public to install CCTV cameras outside their residential and commercial premises to help them check rising crime effectively.
Issuing the appeal, SP City Akash Tomar stated that criminals would think twice before committing a crime in and around residential premises or commercial establishments fitted with CCTV cameras.
"If there is a camera installed outside a building, it will work like a deterrent for criminals," the SP said. Incidents like abduction of minors, stealing of vehicles parked outside houses/buildings or other petty crimes like chain-snatching were bound to see a decline as the criminals would fear getting identified, he added.
"Installation of CCTV cameras will also help police work out cases faster. In addition to enforcement of strict vigilance and other preventive measures by cops in various areas, presence of CCTV cameras would be an additional help for police to solve cases, the officer said.
"So, I appeal to one and all to install CCTV cameras for their own safety," said Tomar.
