Chandigarh, May 26 (IANS) Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Friday condoled the death of former state Director General of Police (DGP) K.P.S Gill, recalling his invaluable contribution to bringing peace back to the state from the grips of militancy.
In his condolence message, the Chief Minister said Gill's role in restoring peace and stability to Punjab cannot be undermined or forgotten and "he continues to be emulated by police and security personnel around the country as an example of how the most complex of problems can be resolved with grit and determination".
Expressing his sympathies for the bereaved family, Singh said his thoughts and prayers were with them in their hour of grief.
Gill, who served as Director General of the CRPF besides holding the important post of DGP Punjab, was also Advisor (Security) to the government of Chhattisgarh for a year in 2006-07.
Gill breathed his last at 2.55 pm at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi. He was admitted to the hospital on May 18.
