Gurugram villagers block highway over girl's abduction

Gurugram, May 24 (IANS) Villagers from Gurugram on Wednesday disrupted traffic on the Gurugram-Alwar National Highway as police failed to trace a teenaged girl and her abductors.

A 17-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped from her village near Sohna last week. The villagers including women from Baluda village, blocked the National Highway.

Baluda village is around 26 km from the district headquarters.

They gathered near Ambedkar Chowk and disrupted the movement of traffic that resulted in a massive traffic jam.

The villagers ended their protest as senior police officers assured them that they would trace the victim in two days. The girl's parents have threatened to commit suicide if police fail to rescue her.
