New Delhi, May 22 (IANS) A week-long workshop on French and Indian philosophy started here on Monday with the participation of students from France.
The workshop, titled "A Week for Philosophy", has been organised by the cultural wing of the French Embassy Institut Francais India (IFI), in collaboration with Lycee Francais de Delhi.
It would continue till May 28 at M.L. Bhartia Auditorium, Alliance Francaise de Delhi.
Students from French institutes namely -- Ecole normale superieure (ENS) Paris, Chloe Pretesa and Paul Hubeaux-Delacquis, have become part of this celebration of philosophy.
IIT Delhi Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Literature Divya Dwivedi and philosopher Shaj Mohan, who have co-authored the philosophical monograph -- "Gandhi and Philosophy: On Theological Anti-Politics", are also among those who will participate in this event, the organisers said on Monday.
"Engaging in Philosophy is taking pride in one's capacity to understand the world in all its complexities and its evolution. It is also learning to read ancient texts and keeping them alive for the future generations," IFI Books Attache Nicolas Idier told IANS.
"We are pleased to present a week of ideas; meetings, lectures under a philosophy workshop for all ages. This week-long event comprising many interactive sessions aimed at making philosophy more engaging, will bring together a wide audience ranging from students to noted philosophers," Idier said.
He said that for the workshop's creative approach, including songs, games and art to cultivating the spirit of philosophy in a young audience, IFI is partnering with Priya Aude Wacziarg, a philologist who has translated Hesiod's Theogony.
"The events under the workshop are both meant for the children of the French School, Lycee francais de Delhi, and to learners of French in Alliance francaise of Delhi. It is meant for anybody who wants to foray into new realms of thought," he said.
