19 central Asian women, a minor held in Delhi for illegal stay

New Delhi, May 22 (IANS) Nineteen women and a minor from central Asian countries were held from south Delhi on Monday for entering the country without proper documents and staying illegally, the police said.

Following inputs from the Foreigner Regional Registration Office (FRRO), the police conducted searches around 8 a.m. in guesthouses and hotels in Vasant Kunj and Malviya Nagar areas to detect and deport foreign nationals illegally staying in India.

"Those caught had entered India without proper travel documents and were handed over to FRRO staff for further action," Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Chinmoy Biswal told IANS.

"Action will be taken as per the law against owners/caretakers of premises where these foreigners were staying without possessing valid documents," Biswal said.
