Two injured in Srinagar grenade attack

Srinagar, May 18 (IANS) A civilian and a policeman were injured when militants hurled a grenade at a police station here on Thursday.

The incident took place at the Old City's Safa Kadal police station. The injured civilian and policeman were identified as Arif and Sameer Ahmad respectively, police said.

Security forces immediately cordoned off the area and hunted for the attackers.

The attack took place as union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley chaired a two-day Goods and Services Tax (GST) council meet in Srinagar, attended by finance ministers of all states and union territories.
