Ugandan Parliament Speaker hails development in UAE

Abu Dhabi, May 12 (IANS/WAM) Rebecca Kadaga, Ugandan Parliament Speaker and the President of the African Geopolitical Group in the Inter-Parliamentary Union, has praised the UAE's fast-paced development.

"The UAE encourages all sectors to excel through competition for the lead in development, something which Zayed University represents," Kadaga said during a visit to Zayed University in Abu Dhabi.

She expressed admiration for the university's academic programmes, advanced research facilities and initiatives.

Kadaga invited the university's officials to visit Uganda to build academic and research tie-ups between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and her country.

Reyadh Al Mehaideb, Vice President of Zayed University, stressed that the Emirati institution matches international prestigious universities in terms of services for students.

Some 500 faculty members from prestigious international universities work at Zayed University, which plays a significant role in achieving the goals sets by the UAE Vision 2021 National Agenda, said Al Mehaideb.
