PickUrFlick Indie Film Festival to debut on May 19

New Delhi, May 10 (IANS) PickUrFlick Indie Film Festival (PIFF), a multilingual film gala, will make its debut on May 19 at Instituto Cervantes here.

Arabic animation film "AYNY-My Second Eye" will open the festival and German film "Hear The Silence" will be the closing film for the first edition of the fest, read a statement.

Founded by Abhishek Sinha, the fest will screen 70 films over four categories in more than 10 languages.

PIFF will have 52 shorts, seven features, eight animations and three documentaries spread over 23 Spanish films, 14 silent films, 17 Hindi films, four Bengali, Assamese, Nepali, Persian, German, Arabic, French, Russian and Kurdish films.

The spotlight country for this edition is Spain as a special focus is on Spanish/Latin American films.

PIFF will also witness two world premieres, 35 Asian premieres and six Indian premieres.

The fest will also felicitate filmmakers with awards like Best Director, Best Short Film, Best Feature Film, Best Documentary, Best Animation, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Screenplay and more.

"It's a celebration of the true Indie spirit that is fostering the creativity worldwide. We are presenting a slice of that here. What's interesting is that these films also reflect the current underlying tones be it conflict, gender discrimination or complexities of modern day relationships.

"We are sure the audience will enjoy the selection of films as much as we did putting it up," Abhishek Sinha, Founder at Pickurflick.com, said.
