The vessel is the second of the two OPVs commissioned from the public sector shipbuilder for the island nation's navy.
In his address on the occasion, Defence Production Secretary A.K. Gupta said: "Since November 2015, GSL has delivered 4 OPVs to Indian Coast Guard, 11 fast interceptor boats, two fast patrol vessels to Mauritius, one damage control simulator to Myanmar and many other smaller projects, all ahead of delivery schedule."
He said that the Goa Shipyard was the largest exporter of ships and simulators from the Indian subcontinent with "30 per cent of (the yard's) turnover coming from exports".
GSL officials said that the keel of the second OPV was laid in May 2015.
