Nadda inaugurates training programme for medical officers

New Delhi, May 1 (IANS) Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda on Monday inaugurated the first ever induction Training Programme for newly appointed General Duty Medical Officers (GDMOs), urging them to imbibe new thoughts and experiences to enhance their skills.

The GDMOs are recruits under the Central Health Services (CHS).

 

"This is the first time such a foundation training programme is being undertaken. This will also orient you to your roles and responsibilities about health care delivery systems in the country, legal ethical issues, and schemes programme of the Ministry, OPD, emergencies, pharmacies, administration AYUSH and Yoga. You will learn new things," said Nadda at the inauguration of the nine-week training programme.

Nadda further stated that the course provides an opportunity to expand horizons, learn the philosophy and depth of life.

"Training provide a platform to further know your strengths, weaknesses and be dedicated to your service," said Nadda.

CHS cadre -- governed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and its doctors -- are working all over the country providing health care services to a large number of people.

CHS has four sub-cadres, namely -- GDMOs, Teaching, Non-Teaching Specialists and Public Health -- with a sanctioned strength of more than 4,000 of which the GDMOs constitute the largest chunk -- more than 2,000.
