Islamabad, April 28 (IANS) The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has incurred more than Rs 340 billion liabilities, a media report said on Friday.
PIA Finance Manager Omar Bin Sadat told the National Assembly on Thursday that foreign liabilities stood at Rs 71 billion and local liabilities were over 270 billion, Dawn online reported.
The meeting was held to discuss the Federal Investigation Authority's enquiry into practices of corruption, problems with dry and wet leases of aircraft and the commercial restructuring of the national flag carrier.
Senior PIA officials could not give satisfactory answers to the questions asked by National Assembly members.
Annoyed, PML-N member Rana Mohammad Hayat Khan, the Chairman of the Committee, raised his voice at the PIA officials for coming to the meeting unprepared.
"I have complained to Prime Minister (Nawaz Sharif) that the PIA is nothing more than a carrier of drugs," Khan said.
