Willing to sit with Kejriwal to discuss betterment of Delhi: Tiwari

New Delhi, April 26 (IANS) Delhi BJP President Manoj Tiwari on Tuesday said the people of Delhi have rejected the "politics of lies and negativity" by handing the party victory in the civic polls and said he was willing to sit and discuss with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal how to work towards the development of Delhi.

The BJP on Wednesday retained the three municipal corporations in the national capital for the third term in a row, handing a humiliating defeat to the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP and the Congress.

Asked about the promise made by Kejriwal that house tax would be exempted in Delhi, Tiwari said: "Kejriwal had said that he would exempt house taxes, but the people have rejected the politics of lies in Delhi."

Tiwari also condemned Kejriwal for "threatening" the people of Delhi with increase in the rates of electricity and water if the BJP won, and also saying that dengue and chikungunya would not go away.

"He is threatening people in the name of dengue and chikungunya. He has also threatened to increase the rates of electricity and water bills. We want to condemn it today," said Tiwari.

"Some people are trying to push Delhi into the quagmire of negativity. The Chief Minister's remarks reeks of negativity. I thank the people of Delhi to have rejected parties which only talk about negativity, indulge in negative politics and also violate the law," he added.

"I thank the two crore population of Delhi for reposing their faith in BJP to ensure a historic victory in the civic polls," said Tiwari.

Tiwari also said he was willing to sit with Kejriwal and discuss with him how to work towards the development of Delhi.

"If he is scared of sitting with us along with the people, then we can even sit in private. We want that the funds for functioning of civic bodies, and also other requirements should not be stopped. He can tell us if he has any complaints. There should not be clash between the two governments," said Tiwari.

"Both the governments should work together for the development of Delhi," he added.

He said the poll win was a victory of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's development policies, the planning of party president Amit shah, and hard work of party workers and a victory of the people.

"This is great opportunity for us to work for the people of Delhi. The journey continues," said Tiwari.

The BJP said it will not celebrate its victory in the civic polls and "dedicate" it to the 25 CRPF troopers who were killed in a Maoist attack in Sukma on Monday.
