Mixed bag for Harika on day two of Reykjavik Open

Mixed bag for Harika on day two of Reykjavik OpenReykjavik (Iceland), April 21 (IANS) It was a mixed day for Indian Grand Master Harika Dronavalli as she drew one and won one on day two of the Reykjavik Open chess tournament being played at the Herpa Concert Hall here.

The World No.11 Indian, who on Thursday started the day on the back of an easy win could not maintain her momentum in the second round as she played out a draw against Canadian FIDE Master John Doknjas.

In her next game, she was up against English Candidate Master Alan J. Walton. The Guntur lass playing in black pieces eased past the Englishman in just 27 moves.

Harika will now take on another English lad Martin P. Burrows in the fourth round, who scored an upset victory against higher-ranked Swedish Grand Master, Erik Blomqvist in his last game.

Even though Martin is lower rated than Harika, the Indian Grand Master will be wary off the Englishman, who will look forward to carry his good run of form into his encounter against Harika.
